I am Luana S. Martins Génot, a multitasking, restless, and persistent Brazilian - a carioca (meaning someone who was born in Rio) who has been a model since 2008. I love traveling, swimming, and working in advertisement, media, and fashion industry. This webpage is a space where I share some of my work in fashion shows, editorials and campaigns.

Besides Brazil, I have already worked in countries such as England, France, Belgium, and South Africa. I thank God for these opportunities! Currently, my agencies are 40 Graus in Rio de Janeiro and Grace Models in Cape Town.

My experience in the modeling industry and the lack of racially diverse models in advertisements, campaigns, articles, and fashion shows inspired me to create  a personal blog called oladonegrodamoda.blogspot.com. This means "the dark side of fashion".

Also, another initiative that I worked on recently as an organizer, curator, and fundraiser was Etnoafro during last year’s Black awareness week held by PUC-RIO, my home university.
etnoafro.blogspot.com

The goal of my blog and the event was in alignment with my mission to openly discuss the lack of black representation in the media and future efforts to improve this situation.
Currently, I am doing an exchange year at the University of Wisconsin in Madison through the Brazilian Science Mobility Program.

I consider myself to be a diversity entrepreneur. I am taking the opportunity of being in the US to work for initiatives that help amplify the respresentation of minorities in fashion, media and advertisement. If you also dream about a more equal world, you can join me at luasoumar@gmail.com and share practical ideas and opportunities to make this dream come true!

Aquele Abraço,

Luana Génot
